Hanafiah Ponggawa & Partners website

Indonesia is the world’s largest Muslim country in the world with a population of approximately 240 million. It is an archipelago comprising more than 17,000 islands. It is Southeast Asia’s largest economy and one of Singapore’s largest trading partners.

With a reformist government and a fast-growing middle-class, the domestic economy has been doing well, with consumer spending and government expenditure driving much of her growth in 2013. With the opening up of more industry sectors to foreign investment, Indonesia is seeing a period of strategic growth in infrastructure and the development of its natural resources; especially in the mineral mining and oil & gas sectors.

We work very closely with our counterparts from our Indonesian associate firm of Hanafiah Ponggawa & Partners (“HPRP”), a leading Jakarta law firm with about 70 lawyers. Together, our expanded team has the collective knowledge, specialist expertise and practical experience to undertake and manage cross-border transactions involving Indonesia.

The establishment of our associated office with HPRP in Jakarta is part of our ASEAN PLUS expansion and this will give clients seamless access to high quality and innovative legal solutions in Indonesia. The depth of our local and cultural knowledge sets our team apart from the rest.

We also represent clients in several key industries such as manufacturing, minerals and resources (including coal and other mineral mining and related downstream activities), oil and gas (including exploration, production and its related upstream business). We have worked with contractors, investors, financiers, regulators and government authorities in the preparation and negotiation of mining contracts, oil and gas cooperation contracts including agreements for production sharing, technical assistance, operation cooperation, joint operations, as well as farm out and farm in agreements.
